Shobhana Kumar is a writer, poet, translator, and social entrepreneur. Her poetry collection A Sky Full of Bucket Lists (Red River, 2021) won the Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2021–2022 and received an Honourable Mention from The Haiku Foundation, USA. She has authored two poetry collections and eight works of memoir and biography. Her most recent work, I, Salma: Translated Poems (Red River, 2023), co-authored with K. Srilata, presents Salma’s poems in English. She is currently co-translating Manickavacagar’s Thiruvasakam with Priya Sarukkai Chabria. Beyond her literary pursuits, Shobhana is the founder of Small Differences, an NGO supporting vulnerable communities. She serves as Associate Editor at Yavanika Press, contributing editor at Usawa Literary Journal, and mentor at Kumaraguru Institutions’ CLED. Active in Coimbatore’s arts and social sectors, she sits on the boards of the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation and Yellow Train School.
